karenza paperie!

i amaze myself daily by all the things i do
not get... or understand.  i suppose you could say
i am a simple thinker.
i understand a lot about pencils and pens,
perhaps a bit about pattern even.

BUT, i fail to understand how to share stuff
(always thinking, why would anyone want to know
this about me?  why should i share that?  if i talk about
this i will sound like such a braggedy brag brat).
so i don't share.
because who likes a bragger?

BUT... i am also starting to realize fully, that
i live and work in the studio, and that is a lonely
place.  a place where i can't say, HEY!  look at
this cool blog post someone wrote about me.
isn't that nice? there is no one here to smile
at me, or even acknowledge that it happened,
which makes my favorite place (the studio)
feel a little bit isolating.

so today i am sharing a link with you about
me!  it is on a lovely blog called Karenze Paperie,
and if you press this it will take you there!

Karenze Paperie... is a lovely British stationary shop,
where you can find some REALLY cool cards
(mine are even on there!).

denver here i come!

well tomorrow i start this journey...
and i am SO excited!
(although my little back talking self
has been busy lowering my expectations
and making sure i won't be too disappointed
if it all turns out to be a bust).

*i like to tell her to hush up.
a lot.

because really,
once this journey starts
there is NO GOING BACK!
(just the way it should be)
*and i am excited.
really.

in case you are just jumping in on this thread,
i am talking about the cherry creek art festival in
denver, colorado (this upcoming fourth of july weekend).
i am part of the emerging artist program this
year (this is my first year doing art shows)... so that
is where i threw my hat, in the emerging pile.

anyhow, the lovely people let me in, and so this journey
begins...  the one where i am in the same room with
some fancy pants people.

so here goes!  talk to you all when i get back.

spring has arrived

there is a new little print in the shop.

little bird sprinkling sound sprink sprink
sprink ull  (around) lovely tiny little sound.

it just occurs to me as i am getting ready to sign off,
that i wrote those words on that piece of paper
(at least) 6 years ago...

this confirms my sound belief,
that if you don't have it you can't use it.  which is
why i have so much crapola in my studio!

but look what can happen...  if you save stuff.

squeak carnwath

squeak carnwath is my new favorite. here is a photo of her at work in her studio. if you click the link you will be taken to a wonderful video on YouTube where she talks about her process. she really has a wonderful narative (which i find to be a rare feature when people start talking about art).

i have been BUSY...

the lookout 6 x 12

flap doodle 4 x 6

a little encouragement 8 x 8

the potential was endless 8 x 8

a game of flap doodle 12 x 12
(otherwise known as hide and go seek)

the new year has ARRIVED and i have been completely filled
with inspiration. i can actually feel it coursing through my veins
(i love it).

this isn't always true, so i do my VERY best to make
the most of it. it just so happens that i have just finished
17 new paintings (all created for a beautiful shop in greenwich
conneticut called LOVE). i don't believe any of the paintings
will be hanging in the shop, or be present online, until the begining
of February... but here is the link

where does one begin?

i suppose i will start with today.

today...

today i am posting my favorite (recent) painting , doris wright liked to borrow nancy's clothes.

i should begin by saying i never (that is right... never) have a plan when i start a piece. they just happen. * the funny thing about this painting is that it has both my grandmothers name (doris), and my mom's name (nancy) in it. i didn't know this until i was virtually done with the piece. and because of this... i couldn't sell it. so it now hangs on my mother's bedroom wall. it seemed only fitting.
