STAPLETON gig!

So...

these photos came to me on friday last week,
so i thought i would share them!

what you are looking at is an illustration i
did for STAPLETON, a lovely neighborhood in Denver, CO
(my stomping grounds for nine years).

I have never done an illustration that became so big
(literally).

my fave is the train.  how cool is that?  a train, (a train)!

truly a career highlight for me!

hope you are all well... spring feels like it has not
arrived here on the palouse, although the flowers seem
to feel that it is here (which is nice).  i just wish the snow,
rain, hail, slush, would stop and the sun would shine.
oh... mr. sun please come shine on me.

on a side note, i am in the throws of a month of art/craft shows.
i have done two in the past three weekends, and i have another
next weekend.  THEN- i plan on painting for the following 7 weeks
to prepare for the cherry creek art festival (Denver), and the
BAM art fair (Bellevue, WA) show.
I can hardly wait to get dirty again.  it feels like ages
since i have played with my paints.

okay everybody...  have a great week.  work hard and
make time for some fun.

denver here i come!

well tomorrow i start this journey...
and i am SO excited!
(although my little back talking self
has been busy lowering my expectations
and making sure i won't be too disappointed
if it all turns out to be a bust).

*i like to tell her to hush up.
a lot.

because really,
once this journey starts
there is NO GOING BACK!
(just the way it should be)
*and i am excited.
really.

in case you are just jumping in on this thread,
i am talking about the cherry creek art festival in
denver, colorado (this upcoming fourth of july weekend).
i am part of the emerging artist program this
year (this is my first year doing art shows)... so that
is where i threw my hat, in the emerging pile.

anyhow, the lovely people let me in, and so this journey
begins...  the one where i am in the same room with
some fancy pants people.

so here goes!  talk to you all when i get back.

cherry creek art festival here i come.

well i didn't make my numbers
(goal being 150)
but i did make it to about 120,
and i can totally live with that.

the thing i did do was successfully make my first
larger paintings.  this piece is called, we are writing
our ONLY history (so make it a good one).
it measures 18 x 24.  below is a piece called,
i know A LOT (a lot of tiny things).  best part
is just now while typing the title i realize i spelled
a lot as alot.  oops!  (welcome to my tiny world
of limited information).

i have tried to "go big" in the past and it has
always (underline always) been a bust.
i couldn't seem to sort out the scale of the
background image with what was happening on top.

(BE NICE   all the time)  12 x 12

i know that sounds sort of lame, but the tiny words... ALL
the tiny tiny words covering a big space is different than
tiny words on a small canvas.  the pieces failed on so
many levels (i cringe to think of them)!

but these...

(she was looking at what she remembered
and searching for what she had forgot).
12 x 16

i am okay with these.

OH i will be at the cherry creek art festival this upcoming fourth
of July weekend.  if you are around i cordially invite you to stop
by, as i would love to meet you!
