66 and counting

the calling...

and the gatherer?

*here is a question for you, does it bother you
that there is no line work for hair in the bottom piece?
i am curious about this because i like the SHAPE
or the suggestion of the shape of things, but my sweet momma
said she thinks hair might make the piece stronger.
care to comment?

  2. If I hadn't seen others with hair lines then I'd think it was cool, but having seen pics with lines I do think the lines look much stronger and so I much prefer them.

Having said that, my friend prefers the non-line hair...maybe it would be cool to have some to give people choice, and if they don't sell then add some lines in later.

    Sorry, waffling now!

  3. Cori, I don't have a "trained eye but here is my thought. I really like the hair without the lines. I think that as you said, her hair is more of a suggestion as is the tree in the back round. I don't know if my I would have seen the tree as easily if her hair
were completely drawn. I think whatever you decide will be wonderful..as all your work is... and uniquely you. Will this be a print?

  5. I like it without the lines. I makes her look like she is blonde while the other has hair of a darker color.

  6. I agree that she looks blonde, and also with the basket having intricate linework I think the overall picture is more balanced without the linework in her hair as well. It really is a lovely illustration.

  7. She looks pretty good both ways in my head. Maybe you could place something transparent over her head, draw lines in on that and see which you prefer. I do love her as she is though. You can do no wrong :P

  8. Cori, the hair without the line is fine, but i would like to suggest, maybe prints on her skirt would make it work as well :)

  10. If you want to know my opinion, it's powerful with the lines. It gives structure and volume. By the way nice style your work:)

  12. I think it is fine without the lines in the hair. Agree with another poster who suggested adding lines later if it does not sell. (I'm sure it will sell though...)

  13. thank you SO much for such wonderful feedback. i was thrilled to hear that most of you liked the empty "hair". and THAT is just what i decided to go with. *unless they don't sell, and then i will add a little bit of something! thanks again and again.

  14. I really love the patterned hair lines...I think they will give your picture balance with the texture in her basket. I say go for it.

  16. As it is now - oh, very beautiful drawing by the way! - the basket of sticks is the predominant visual. If you wanted the face to be, you would need to add something. I do love your linework, and also like the hair the way it is. I guess it boils down to what do want to catch our eye?
